Southbridge firefighters exercise Tower 1 to keep apparatus ready

SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (Aug. 11, 2025) — The Southbridge Fire Department rolled out Tower 1 on Monday as part of a weekly check to keep the ladder truck in service-ready condition.
Though one of the department’s older pieces of equipment, the truck remains a vital asset. It carries a range of ground ladders, a 95-foot aerial ladder and a 2,000-gallon-per-minute water pump.
Officials said the unit has been used at numerous fires over the years and continues to play an important role in operations.
