SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. (Sept. 8, 2025) — Students in the Southbridge High School Fire Academy entered their second week of training Monday, continuing lessons designed to prepare them for careers in the fire service.

Recruits practiced essential fire service knots, received firefighting gear donated by local towns, and learned to properly don and doff the equipment, officials said. The students also completed their first quiz of the program.

Fire officials said the academy is aimed at building the next generation of firefighters through hands-on instruction and community support.
