MENDON, Mass. (Sept. 5, 2025) — A tree toppled onto power lines Friday evening on Pleasant Street, sparking smoke and flames and forcing the closure of the road, officials said.
Car 44, operated by an on-call lieutenant, arrived to find the tree had taken down primary wires across several poles and house services. Engine 44 and Car 44 crews assessed nearby homes for damage and secured the area until National Grid arrived.
Power crews were working to make the area safe and repair the damage. Pleasant Street was expected to remain closed for an extended period.
