AMHERST, N.Y. (Aug. 16–17, 2025) — Fire departments from across New York gathered at Main-Transit Fire Department over the weekend for the New York State Drill Team Association Championship Tournament and parade.

On Saturday, teams competed in skill drills at the department’s facility, with the West Sayville Flying Dutchmen taking home the championship title.

Sunday’s championship parade gave departments the chance to showcase their work and accomplishments before local crowds.

Officials said the event is one of the department’s largest fundraisers and thanked neighboring fire companies and emergency services for providing mutual aid coverage during the weekend.
