Second-Alarm Fire Destroys Home in Seneca

Firefighters from several Ontario County departments operated at a second-alarm residential fire after first-arriving personnel encountered a well-involved home on Ferguson Road.

Seneca Castle, Hopewell and Stanley fire departments were initially dispatched at approximately 7:09 p.m., along with Mercy Flight EMS-Finger Lakes Ambulance. The incident occurred on Monday, September 7, 2026, at 2199 Ferguson Road in the Town of Seneca, New York.

The first arriving fire chief reported a working structure fire and requested a second alarm and tanker task force. Geneva, Clifton Springs and Oaks Corners responded on the second alarm, while Phelps and Gorham responded as part of the tanker task force. One resident escaped the home safely. Several animals were also rescued, although some pets remained unaccounted for following the fire. No injuries were reported.

An excavator was brought to the scene to assist firefighters during operations. Ontario County Emergency Management, the Ontario County Sheriff's Office, Ontario County 911 Center, Town of Seneca Water Department and Code Enforcement also assisted. The residence sustained extensive damage and was reported as a total loss. The American Red Cross was assisting the displaced resident. The cause remained under investigation.
