ASHBURNHAM, Mass. (Aug. 22, 2025) — Ashburnham firefighters faced a demanding stretch last week, responding to a surge of calls that at times required mutual aid from surrounding departments.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, crews handled 10 calls for service, including three simultaneous incidents that brought in assistance from Winchendon and Ashby fire departments.
Two days later, in the early hours of Friday, Aug. 22, firefighters managed three simultaneous calls after midnight. Those included two serious motor vehicle crashes and prompted mutual aid from Winchendon, Ashby and Fitchburg fire departments.
