STURBRIDGE, Mass. (Sept. 6, 2025) — Sturbridge firefighters handled a dozen emergency calls in a 24-hour span, including a vehicle fire, a highway crash, a medical flight and multiple medical emergencies, officials said.
The incidents included a car fire on Interstate 90, a motor vehicle accident off Interstate 84 where no injuries were reported, and a LifeFlight transport for a critical patient. Crews also answered a cardiac arrest call and sent a mutual aid ambulance to Spencer for a priority medical.
Group 1 completed its Friday shift with 12 responses, compared to the department’s statistical average of seven calls in a 24-hour period.
