On September 4 2020, The Pine Grove Fire Department along with South Schenectady, Rotterdam District No.2, Fort Hunter, and The Carman Fire Department was dispatched to 3513 Guilderland Avenue for a reported structure fire.
The first arriving fire chief on scene had heavy smoke pushing from the back portion of the house and requested the second alarm to be transmitted. The first arriving engine on scene immediately deployed their manpower to the front door of the house. Firefighters pulled a single hand line into the structure and made their way towards the kitchen where they had a working kitchen fire. Firefighters immediately knocked down the heavy fire in the kitchen and vented the back windows of the house.
Additional firefighters quickly arrived on scene and assisted with overhaul and ventilation of the house. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen area, but the rest of the house sustained smoke damage. No firefighters were injured on scene and everyone was able to make it out of the house safely. The fire is currently under investigation at this time.
