LITTLE COMPTON, RI — September 4, 2026 — A business employee put out the fire before firemen could arrive, despite the Little Compton Fire Department responding to a reported lighting fixture fire on a commercial site.

When employees noticed smoke and a burning light fixture inside the facility, the LCFD was called. The fixture had been extinguished, all residents had departed, and firemen had discovered minor smoke conditions when they arrived.

The fire was extinguished by a member of the company personnel using a portable fire extinguisher. The agency attributed the fire's prevention to the employee's prompt action and the company's fire safety procedures.
