WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. (Aug. 8, 2025) — As fire departments nationwide struggle to recruit volunteers, Williamsville officials say they have been fortunate to see new recruits, transfer members and returning firefighters join their ranks in recent months.

The department highlighted several of its newest probationary members during a recent training, noting that some are brand new to the fire service while others bring experience from past service.

“Our newest members bring both fresh energy and seasoned knowledge,” Williamsville fire officials said in a statement. “We are grateful for their commitment to serve.”

The department encouraged residents interested in volunteering to reach out for guidance on how to join local fire and emergency medical services.
