On Tuesday, 3 September 2025, the Brattleboro Fire Department reinstated a burn ban across the Town of Brattleboro due to very high fire danger levels. The region’s dry weather conditions have elevated the wildfire risk, prompting officials to prohibit all outdoor burning until further notice.

The ban covers brush piles, campfires, and burn barrels, with fire officials warning that even a small spark could quickly escalate into a dangerous wildfire. The precautionary measure is aimed at protecting residents, natural resources, and emergency responders from preventable emergencies.

The department urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately dial 911 if smoke or fire is spotted. Officials noted that cooperation from the community is essential to maintaining safety until conditions improve.
