ANGOLA, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2025) — A brush fire that spread across more than two acres Wednesday evening involved vehicles, a collapsed structure and wooded land, keeping firefighters on scene for more than three hours, officials said.
The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. in the department’s primary coverage area. Angola Fire established command on arrival and requested mutual aid from several neighboring companies, including Evans Center, North Evans, Brant and Seneca.
Evans Center crews worked on suppression efforts involving vehicles and the collapsed structure, while Brant supplied tankers to maintain water flow in an area without hydrants. Seneca and North Evans assisted with suppression and mop-up in the field.
As conditions intensified, additional units from Seneca, Lake Erie Beach, Farnham, Highland and Irving fire departments were called to support.
Authorities said about 2.25 acres of field within a five-acre section were affected. Police from the Town of Evans, Erie County sheriff’s investigators, the town building department, AMR and New York State Police also responded. Eden and Sunset Bay fire departments provided station coverage.
