Cigarette sparks small fire in Owls Head

OWLS HEAD, Maine (Aug. 15, 2025) — A fire that began in a flower box attached to a fire escape Friday was quickly reported and contained before it could spread, officials said.
The blaze was traced to an improperly discarded cigarette, according to the Owls Head Fire Department. Firefighters credited the quick 911 call with preventing further damage.
Officials urged residents to discard cigarettes responsibly to reduce the risk of future fires.
