Car fire spreads to house in Readfield

READFIELD, Maine (Sept. 1, 2025) — A car fire spread into a home Monday afternoon, drawing a multi-town fire response, officials said.
Crews arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed and flames extending into the dwelling. Firefighters from Readfield, Fayette, Wayne, Vienna and Mount Vernon worked to quickly knock down the car fire before focusing on the house.
The blaze damaged one end of the home and extended into the attic and roof, which took additional time to extinguish, officials said.
