ELIOT, Maine (Aug. 23, 2025) — A woods fire in Eliot on Saturday grew to a fourth alarm and drew firefighters from more than 17 towns, along with support from the Maine Forest Service helicopter, officials said.

Crews were first dispatched around 11 a.m. for a smoke investigation off Brixham Road. Eliot Fire Chief 3 determined a large area of woods was burning and called for additional help.

The Maine Forest Ranger estimated 2.3 acres were involved. Firefighters and tank trucks worked more than eight hours before returning Sunday morning to continue suppression.

Officials credited the coordinated response of mutual aid companies with helping to contain the fire.
