Tuesday, 12 August 2025 – The Cambridge Fire Department announced that the newly installed dry hydrant on Lamoille View Lane was tested and placed in service.

The hydrant can operate either in conjunction with the existing village hydrant system or as a standalone water source if the village system is unavailable. Officials noted that this project has been more than 20 years in planning, financing, and implementation.

Dry hydrants are particularly critical in rural areas with limited water supplies, providing firefighters with reliable water access during emergencies. The department reminded residents to keep the hydrant area clear at all times to ensure it can be used without delay.
