Thursday, 28 August 2025, at 9:00 a.m. – The Lyme Fire Department proudly announced that Firefighter Thomas Moore officially became a soldier after graduating at Fort Benning, Georgia, and earning his Infantry Blue Cord.
Moore was joined by family, friends, and fellow firefighters for the milestone event. In a special moment during the ceremony, his mother had the honor of placing the Infantry Blue Cord on his shoulder.
Following the graduation, Moore celebrated with a cookout before returning to base. The department noted that another ceremony was scheduled the following day, with a big homecoming planned to welcome him back to the community.
“We are very proud of Firefighter Moore for this achievement,” the department said, adding that his platoon nickname, ‘Tall Moo,’ was one that will stick.
