Basement fire displaces family on Hoyt Circle in Atkinson

ATKINSON, N.H. (Aug. 1, 2025) — A basement fire left a Hoyt Circle home uninhabitable early Thursday after three residents and two dogs evacuated safely, officials said.
At 5:13 a.m., Atkinson firefighters responded to a 911 call reporting smoke inside the residence. Engine 3 arrived to find light smoke and located the fire near the electrical panel in the basement.
Crews from Salem, Hampstead, Plaistow, Danville, Sandown and Derry assisted with suppression efforts. A Haverhill engine and Newton tanker covered Atkinson’s station during the response.
Fire officials said the house sustained significant damage and cannot be reoccupied. The displaced residents are being assisted following the incident.
