NEWBURY, N.H. (Sept. 2, 2025) — Newbury Fire Rescue is urging boaters to use caution on Lake Sunapee as water levels continue to drop amid a dry summer.
Officials said the shoreline, docks and harbor areas pose hazards, particularly in the evening when it is difficult to see rocks just below the surface.
At the Newbury town dock, water that was once above the decking is now very shallow, especially on the south side of the dock. The fire department also warned that water levels at the Sunapee State Park Beach launch ramp and in the channel are unusually low.
