During the month of August, the department responded to 13 calls for service, which included:
- 1 service call
- 1 cover assignment to Plymouth
- 4 motor vehicle accidents
- 3 fire alarm activations
- 1 building fire
- 1 smoke investigation
- 1 tree/wires down incident
- 1 wilderness rescue in Plymouth
The Ambulance Division responded to 19 calls for service.
In addition to emergency responses, crews provided coverage for community events, including a fireworks detail for Old Home Day and a traffic detail for the 5K race at Stinson Lake.
Training for the month focused on ropes and knots, driver/operator skills, and continued participation in the Firefighter I Course. Chief Hacker conducted 5 oil/propane inspections, 1 commercial occupancy permit inspection, and oversaw a commercial blasting operation. With the ongoing dry conditions and little rainfall in the forecast, we remind everyone to exercise extreme caution when using outdoor fire pits and to properly dispose of smoking materials. Even a single spark or ember could easily ignite a dangerous fire under these conditions.
