Durham Firefighters Deployed to Weare Wildfire as Part of Strike Team

Wednesday, 20 August 2025 – Members of the Durham Fire Department were deployed to Weare, New Hampshire, to assist in battling a multiple-alarm, multi-day wildfire as part of the state’s mobilization plan.
The response was organized under Strike Team 2 of the Seacoast Chief Fire Officer Mutual Aid District, which included firefighters from Durham, Greenland, Rollinsford, Newburyport, and Dover. The team operated under the direction of Strike Team Leader Deputy Chief Atwater.
Durham Fire officials thanked both the firefighters who joined the deployment and those who remained behind to cover shifts at home, ensuring the community continued to receive full protection.
