WOOLWICH, Maine (Sept. 3, 2025) — A Woolwich fire captain and a Wiscasset assistant chief were honored this week for rescuing a Bath Fire captain who fell through a floor during a recent structure fire in Wiscasset.
At a selectboard meeting Wednesday night, Woolwich Fire Chief praised Capt. Bailey for his quick actions alongside Wiscasset Assistant Chief Cossette.
Officials said the Bath captain fell through an opening in the floor while crews were navigating the interior of the burning structure. Bailey and Cossette recognized the emergency and lifted the captain out of the basement, turning him over to EMS.
The Bath captain was not seriously injured.
