Brush fire burns one acre in Dummerston gravel pit

DUMMERSTON, Vt. (Sept. 3, 2025) — Fire crews battled a brush fire along Route 5 in Dummerston Wednesday afternoon that spread to roughly one acre near the town gravel pit.
Mutual aid companies were called to assist after the blaze was first reported around 3:22 p.m. Command requested additional engines and tankers as the fire grew, according to initial dispatch reports.
The cause of the fire was not immediately released. No injuries were reported.
