Fire departments gather in Townshend for training on water mapping

TOWNSHEND, Vt. (Aug. 13, 2025) — The Townshend Volunteer Fire Department hosted the West River Training Group on Wednesday night for a session focused on water mapping.

Members from Townshend, Newbrook, Grafton, Saxtons River, East Dover and Jamaica took part in the exercise, which included practicing water placement and mapping water through a window simulator.

The simulator was built days earlier by Townshend Chief Beattie and Grafton Chief Sprague. Grace Cottage Hospital provided use of its parking lot, and the session was led by instructor Jake Poulin of Jake’s of All Trades.
