FALMOUTH, Mass. (Aug. 4, 2025) — Firefighters extinguished a pile of burning cardboard Monday afternoon at Cavossa Disposal on Nathan Ellis Highway, officials said.
The fire was inside a large Quonset Hut structure, but crews said there was no risk of flames spreading to other buildings.
When the first engine arrived, Cavossa employees were already using heavy equipment to pull the pile apart. Fire crews advanced a handline to knock down the flames.
Because no hydrants were nearby, a water shuttle was set up to supply the scene without shutting down Nathan Ellis Highway.
No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation by the Falmouth Fire Investigation Unit.
