BRADFORD, Maine (Sept. 3, 2025) — Firefighters quickly contained a wildfire Wednesday afternoon that broke out in woods between two homes in Bradford, officials said.
The Bradford Fire Department was dispatched around 4:48 p.m. after reports of a possible building fire on Main Road. Penobscot dispatchers later advised the blaze was in the woods.
Bradford responded with 15 members, sending a brush truck, engine and rescue unit. Hudson Fire & Rescue also responded. When Bradford Engine 176 arrived, crews confirmed a wildfire between two houses.
Because of thick brush and limited access, a second alarm was requested. Crews from Engine 171 and Hudson 503 attacked the fire from the opposite side, bringing it under control quickly and canceling the second alarm.
The Maine Forest Service responded to investigate. The cause of the fire was undetermined.
