MILFORD, Conn. (Aug. 27, 2025) — Firefighters responded Wednesday morning to the city’s transfer station after a fire broke out inside the building, officials said.

Crews arrived at 10:33 a.m. and quickly knocked down the flames so Public Works employees could move a container outside. Workers then used heavy machinery to empty the container while firefighters continued extinguishing the blaze.

Mutual aid companies from West Haven and Stratford covered Milford fire stations and handled other calls in the city during the response.

Fire officials said they were grateful for the support and partnership of surrounding towns.
