Skokie, Il Fire Department responds to noon time kitchen fire.

At 1204 hrs. skokie dispatch received a call of smoke coming from the windows of the home at 3745 Enfield. Engine, Rescue,Ambulance 17, Truck and Squad 18 and B/C16 where dispatched. Police on the scene advised heavy smoke showing. B/C 16 upgraded the call to a working fire while enroute. This brought in Tower 16,Engine and Ambulance 18. Engine 17 arrived on location and found smoke coming from several windows of a 1.5 story brick residential. An 1 3/4" line wad stretched to the back door located on the B side. Rescue 17 began to force entry, when it was determined that the kitchen was fully involved. Companies quickly relocated the line to the front door on the D side and made entry from the unburned side. Truck 18 made the roof and ventilated over the fire. The fire had extended into the void space over the kitchen. Companies inside pulled ceiling to open up and knocked down the fire. Squad 18 made a primary search with no findings. It turned out no one was at home at the time of the fire which is believed to have started by unattended cooking. No reports of injuries.
