Crews extinguish early-morning car fire on Portville-Eldred Road

PORTVILLE, N.Y. (Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025) — Firefighters in Portville quickly extinguished a car fire early Saturday after being dispatched to the 100 block of Portville-Eldred Road, officials said.
The alarm came in just after 1 a.m. Crews from Portville 1 and 5 stretched a hose line to knock down flames in the vehicle’s engine compartment, while Portville 4 closed the road to traffic.
Firefighters remained on scene for less than an hour. The New York State Police assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported.
