BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (Friday, Aug. 1, 2025) — Binghamton firefighters quickly knocked down a fire Friday afternoon inside a vacant three-story house on Court Street, officials said.

Crews at headquarters noticed smoke coming from 216 Court St. around 4:19 p.m. and called for a full alarm. A bystander reported possible entrapment, prompting immediate searches of all floors.

Firefighters forced entry through the boarded-up front door and located a room-and-contents fire on the first floor. The blaze was contained to that room with no extension, and primary searches confirmed no one was inside.

No injuries were reported. NYSEG confirmed utilities had been disconnected prior to the fire. The building owner arrived to secure the property.

Binghamton Police, NYSEG and Superior Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
