Firefighters Extricate Two After Vehicle Overturns at Smilow Cancer Cente

Monday, 25 August 2025, at 8:18 AM – Fire crews from Engines 42, 11, and Rescue 57 were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle accident with entrapment in the parking lot of the Smilow Cancer Center.
Responders arrived to find a vehicle on its side with airbags deployed. The occupants were alert and responsive, but unable to exit the vehicle. Crews stabilized the vehicle, then proceeded with extrication by removing the entire roof to safely free the trapped individuals.
Both patients were turned over to Waterford Ambulance for transport to a local hospital.
Officials praised the quick actions of fire crews and medical personnel, noting that the coordinated response ensured a safe outcome for all involved.
