The Connecticut Fire Prevention Poster Recognition Program announced that Laymi De La Torre of Clark Lane Middle School has been named the New London County 5th grade winner of the 2025 contest.

Laymi, who participated while attending Great Neck School, was one of approximately 30,000 students statewide to submit artwork for the program. Her winning poster will be featured in the 2026 Fire Prevention Calendar for the month of November.

The annual program engages students across Connecticut in promoting the importance of fire safety and prevention. Laymi’s artwork reflects this year’s theme: “Fire Prevention—Everyone, Every Day.”

Congratulations to Laymi for her achievement and for helping spread the message of fire safety to communities across the state.
