OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025) — Old Saybrook firefighters faced a flurry of calls Wednesday, responding to four separate incidents across town, officials said.
The day began with a false alarm at a Main Street business, followed by a mulch fire at a Route 1 business. Around 1 p.m., police, fire and EMS were dispatched to a minor crash on Main Street, where one patient was transported to a local facility.
While still operating at the crash, firefighters were redirected to the Causeway bridge, where a boat had become stuck in high winds. Crews used a ladder to assist two people from the vessel and deployed a zodiac boat to manage the rescue.
No serious injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
