OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. (Friday, Aug. 29, 2025) — Old Saybrook firefighters responded Friday afternoon to assist Clinton crews with a large debris fire off Old Nod Road, officials said.

The department was dispatched at 1:18 p.m. and remained on scene for about six hours, using its tower ladder and off-road brush truck to help contain the blaze.

Fire officials noted the brush truck, which was fully funded through community donations, has become a critical asset in responding to hard-to-reach wildfires and flooding emergencies.

No injuries were reported.
