Watertown firefighters knock down apartment fire, rescue pets

WATERTOWN, Conn. (Monday, Aug. 11, 2025) — Firefighters in Watertown quickly knocked down a blaze Monday afternoon that broke out in a Sky Hollow Court apartment, rescuing a dog and a turtle from the home, officials said.
The fire was reported at 1:40 p.m. after a caller noticed smoke coming from a neighbor’s unit. Car 2 arrived to find smoke and flames showing from the first floor and upgraded the call to a working fire.
Crews stretched one hose line and contained the fire to a small corner of the living room. A primary search confirmed no residents were inside.
Responding units included Car 1, Car 2, Engines 4, 5 and 6, Tower 1, Rescue 10, EMS 9 and AMR Waterbury.
No injuries were reported.
