CASTLETON, Vt. (Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025) — Castleton Volunteer Fire Department members conducted air pack and search-and-rescue training last week at the Fair Haven Union High School sports tower, officials said.

The drill introduced newer members to controlled interior firefighting skills, including search tactics and use of breathing apparatus.

“We’re fortunate to have access to the training tower and to welcome a number of new members to the department,” officials said in a statement.

The department said such exercises are vital to preparing interior firefighters for real emergencies.
