Oven fire fills Hardwick home with smoke, no injuries reported

HARDWICK, Vt. (Monday, Sept. 1, 2025) — Firefighters in Hardwick extinguished an oven fire Monday evening that filled a Mackville residence with heavy smoke, officials said.
The call came in around 6:33 p.m. Crews arrived on Atkins Lane to find smoke pouring from the home. An air pack team entered the residence and removed the oven to prevent further damage.
The Greensboro Fire Department assisted at the scene. The Hardwick Fire Auxiliary provided drinks and snacks during cleanup at the station.
No injuries were reported.
