On August 13 around 1:30 p.m., Danbury Public Works driver Bill Daly noticed citizens trying to help an injured or ill hawk on Mountainville Road. He requested assistance from the Danbury Fire Department.

Deputy Chief Bernie Meehan and Firefighter John Whitehead (Car 30) responded, carefully securing the hawk in a dog crate that the department keeps specifically for animal rescues. The bird was then transported to the Danbury Animal Control facility on Plumtrees Road.

From there, ACO Jay Mortara transferred the hawk to Wildlife in Crisis, Inc. in Wilton, where rehabilitators began evaluation and treatment. In the final photo, the raptor can be seen in the trusted care of a wildlife rehabber.
