Newport City firefighters respond to brush fires in Coventry

COVENTRY, Vt. (Monday, Aug. 18, 2025) — Firefighters responded Monday afternoon to reports of two brush fires in Coventry, but found the flames had already been extinguished by a homeowner, officials said.
The Newport City Fire Department was dispatched at 2:02 p.m. to Laramee Road after reports of flames up to 10 feet high. Crews found two burned patches of tall grass and confirmed the fires were out.
All units cleared the scene by 2:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.
