THOMASTON, Maine (Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025) — Thomaston firefighters joined with LifeFlight of Maine for a training session Thursday night on ground safety and air medical operations, officials said.

Kyle, a LifeFlight representative, led the session, which focused on the “Ground Safety Program” — teaching firefighters and EMS personnel how to secure landing zones, assist with patient transfers, and work safely around aircraft during critical incidents.

LifeFlight provides critical care transport for seriously ill or injured patients across Maine, often bringing advanced medical care directly to scenes or between hospitals.

The department thanked LifeFlight for donating a landing zone bag and expressed appreciation to members of neighboring departments who participated.

“Trainings like these are invaluable in ensuring we can work safely and effectively during critical incidents,” the Thomaston Fire Department said.
