Chelsea crews assist with two brush fires in Pittston, South Gardiner

CHELSEA, Maine (Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025) — Chelsea firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to two separate brush fires that kept crews on scene for nearly five hours, officials said.

The first fire was reported shortly after 2 p.m. along the riverbank in Pittston and was difficult to access, according to the Chelsea Fire Department. A second fire broke out in South Gardiner shortly after 4 p.m.

Forestry 5 and Tank 6 responded with five firefighters. Crews cleared both scenes and returned to service around 7 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
