Aurora firefighters contain woods fire to half an acre

AURORA, N.Y. (Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025) — Firefighters in Aurora contained a woods fire Tuesday afternoon that scorched just over a half acre, officials said.
The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department said the blaze was likely caused by improperly discarded smoking materials. Crews worked quickly to stop the spread, and no injuries were reported.
Fire officials urged residents to use extra caution, noting that conditions remain very dry and fire danger is still high.
