CUMBERLAND, Maine (Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025) — Cumberland firefighters trained Thursday night on how to handle rooftop unit fires during a session at Greely High School, officials said.
The drill, led with assistance from Facilities Director Don Foster, gave members a tour of the school roof to review different types of rooftop units, their hazards and proper shutdown procedures.
Firefighters then practiced stretching hose lines from the standpipe system on Tower 107 to simulate extinguishment.
Officials said the training helps ensure crews are prepared for complex fire scenarios involving commercial buildings.
