Work Van Fire on Bailey Hill Quickly Contained Before It Reaches Nearby Structures

Richmond, RI - Richmond- Carolina Fire District units were dispatched to the Bailey Hill section of town for a reported vehicle fire near a structure in Washington County, Rhode Island.
On 19 August, first-arriving crews encountered a work van fully involved, with the property owner actively using a garden hose in an attempt to slow fire spread prior to fire department arrival. Firefighters immediately assumed control of the incident and initiated suppression operations to bring the fire under control.
Companies quickly knocked down the fire and ensured it was fully contained to the involved vehicle, preventing any extension to nearby buildings or additional parked vehicles. Crews conducted a thorough check of the surrounding area to confirm there was no hidden extension or secondary ignition.
Response included Engine 613, Engine 611, Engine 612, and Tower 615, which operated on scene for suppression, overhaul, and scene safety until the incident was fully stabilized.
