Essex firefighters free trapped driver after Labor Day crash

ESSEX, Conn. (Monday, Sept. 1, 2025) — Firefighters in Essex extricated a driver trapped in a two-car crash Monday morning that also prompted a medical helicopter response, officials said.
The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. Crews arrived to find one occupant pinned in a vehicle and requested Life Star to transport the patient.
With assistance from the Deep River Fire Department, a landing zone was set up at Essex Fire Headquarters.
Further details on the patient’s condition were not immediately available.
