Crews battle possible cottage fire in Stafford; dog unaccounted for

STAFFORD, N.Y. (Saturday, Aug. 30, 2025) — Firefighters from Stafford and multiple mutual aid departments responded Saturday evening to a reported cottage fire on Russell Road, officials said.
The call came in around 7 p.m. for a possible structure fire at 5301 Russell Rd. All occupants safely evacuated, though a dog was initially believed to be trapped inside, according to early reports.
A second alarm was struck to bring in additional resources. Batavia Fire Department units Engine 12 and Squad 13 responded and operated alongside Stafford Fire Department and other mutual aid crews.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
