POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025) — Vassar College partnered with the Arlington Fire District and state fire officials Sunday to provide fire safety training for residential staff ahead of the fall semester, officials said.

The program, held on campus, gave the college’s House Team hands-on instruction in fire prevention and emergency response. The training was conducted with the Office of Residence Life, Safety and Security, the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, and the Arlington Fire District.

Officials said the effort is designed to strengthen preparedness and promote a culture of safety within the campus community.

“We’re proud to work with Vassar College to help improve both student and community safety,” the Arlington Fire District said in a statement.
