Medway, MA - The Medway Fire Department operated in Medway, Norfolk County, following reports from utility personnel of elevated natural gas readings detected inside multiple units at the Kingson Lane condominium complex.

As companies were already committed earlier in the evening to a medical emergency and an inside electrical odor investigation, additional resources were redirected when the gas investigation escalated. On 18 August, following confirmation of elevated readings in 3 of 6 condominium units, Medway Car 1 initiated immediate evacuations of affected residents while crews began systematic checks of the involved units and surrounding areas.

Mutual aid was rapidly requested to support the expanding operation, bringing in a Milford Ladder Company, Millis Engine, and Bellingham Ambulance to the scene. As the incident progressed and extended in duration, Medway Engine 3 and Ladder 1 were reassigned from prior calls to assist with fireground operations. Additional support was later provided by Hopedale, while Medfield maintained station coverage to ensure continued district protection. Mansfield Rehab also responded to support crews operating under prolonged conditions.

Crews worked in close coordination with utility personnel from Eversource Energy to locate, isolate, and mitigate the source of the gas leak. After an extended and coordinated effort, the affected area was declared safe, with utilities remaining on scene for final inspection and follow-up repairs.
