This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

MCGRAW, NY — August 11, 2026 — A reported structure fire in the Village of McGraw, New York, prompted the dispatch of firefighters from many Cortland County agencies on Tuesday afternoon. This led to a mutual-aid response that kept personnel working for over four hours.

As firemen attempted to control the situation, the village-based McGraw Fire Department, which was the first-due agency, asked for more resources soon after the initial dispatch at around 12:30 p.m.

The Cortlandville Fire Department, which responded with Truck 1331 and Engine 1304, was one of the supporting organizations. As teams worked through the afternoon to make sure all remaining hot spots were extinguished, firefighters helped with overhaul and fire suppression operations.
