Keene Firefighters Battle Large Brush Fire; Off-Duty Members Called In

The Professional Firefighters of Keene IAFF Local 3265 reported that multiple units, including Tanker 1, Brush 1 with the ranger, Brush 2, Ladder 2, Car 2, and Car 4, were deployed to a large brush fire on Thursday, August 28.
Due to the scale of the incident, resources were stretched thin, leaving Ambulance 3 as the only available ambulance in the city. To maintain coverage, a Code 1 was transmitted, calling in off-duty members. Engine 1 was subsequently staffed by these recalled personnel.
Officials emphasized that this type of coordinated response ensures both the fire scene and the wider Keene community remain protected during large-scale incidents.
